How ENG gives back
ENG is a new company, and it gives back the way a new company can: by deciding from the first day who it hires, who it buys from, who it subcontracts to, and where it shows up. Those decisions are policy at ENG, and they are written down.
Veteran hiring
Veterans and military spouses are the first place ENG looks for superintendents, project managers, and craft workers, and ENG gives them hiring preference. ENG's recruiting policy is built around the programs that connect service members and veterans to construction careers:
- Helmets to Hardhats, connecting transitioning service members and veterans to construction careers and apprenticeship
- Hiring Our Heroes, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation's veteran and military spouse employment program
- Department of Defense SkillBridge, as a host organization for transitioning service members once approved by the department
- Texas Veterans Commission employer programs and the Texas Workforce Commission's veteran services
ENG recognizes military training and certifications toward craft qualifications, supports Guard and Reserve service obligations, and treats a DD-214 as a credential. Veterans at ENG.
Veteran-owned and small business partners
ENG opens its subcontracting to veteran-owned, service-disabled veteran-owned, minority-owned, women-owned, and HUB-certified firms on the same performance-based terms it asks for itself, and runs a program to help them win their first ENG subcontract and grow on the next one. Small Business Partnership Program.
Local hiring and purchasing
ENG's policy is to hire locally on every project and to buy from Texas suppliers wherever the specification allows. On a public project, that keeps the public's money in the community the project serves.
Where ENG shows up
ENG's clients are the public institutions of Texas and the nation: the VA, the military, the state, the counties and cities, and the school districts. The communities around those institutions are ENG's communities, and ENG's commitment is to be present in them: at the veteran service organization post, the trade training program, the industry small business conference, and the civic groups in the places where it works.
ENG also participates in the industry, professional, and military associations that serve its markets and its people, including SAME, AGC, ABC, AIA, PMI, and AUSA. Affiliations.
As the company grows, its giving grows with it, and this page will record it.
